Hip Hop & Technology: Hip Hop 2.0

Hip hop’s gone a long way since dj’s finding a break and looping it over and over while someone toasts over the beat. Dj’s evolved into producers and the toasters turned into rappers.
Producers have evolved the way music is made over the years; from turntables to stop and play techniques with cassettes to beat machines to keyboard work stations to computer programs
Now-a-days its so easy to make beats that little kids can do it! Literally! For example, Sony’s PSP came out with a portable beat machine called Traxxpad: Portable Studio it’s definitely pushed the envelope as far as mobile music production goes. It used to be extremely hard to come across equipment for cheap and if you could get your hands on some equipment it would take forever to learn your craft. But now anyone and their momma could make beats anywhere at anytime.
If big expensive hardware was your excuse before you don’t have room for excuses anymore. In this day and age you don’t even need any sort of bulky software installed on to your computer you can simply go to a website called SonicProducer.com and start making beats right away.
Once you finish making the beat you just export it with whatever title you wish as AN MP3!! Its amazing how quickly the rate of technological improvements is rising. It seems now that every year a ground breaking device is invented to shatter the paradigm of the old. If our culture keeps progressing at this rate who knows where our industry will be in 5 years.
